Yard Sale

It's out with the old! The last month or so, mom and helpers (Aunt Peg, Uncle Lance, Tracie, Brynna, me, Kailey, Loryn, and complete strangers) have been hauling things out of Grandpa Read's basement to make room for Mom & Dad's furniture and household items. Mom and Dad are moving into a Fifth Wheeler in Grandpa's back yard. The house they've been renting has been sold and they wanted to stay close to help Grandpa...but not too close. So they bought a trailer so they'd have their own space, and they'll be using a portion of Grandpa's house to store their furniture in. They'll set up a little space downstairs for when family comes to visit. There are two bedrooms downstairs with two beds in each, and a nice size family room.

This Saturday was the day of the big yard sale. Between Grandpa, Mom, Aunt Peg, Becky, and I, we had a quite a good sized sale. Mom and I planned to set most of it up on Friday. I didn't realize what a big job it was, hauling all the old furniture and heavy items out of the garage and organizing everything onto tables. Thank goodness for my dear friend, Debbie, who showed up by surprise to help us. What would have taken 10 hours for just mom and I, ended up only taking about five hours. Debbie is such a blessing in my life!!

So here's pics of the exciting event!
It was FREEZING on Saturday morning. When we got up, it was 35 degrees! Then the wind started to blow and bbbbbbuuuuurrrrrrrrrr!!!! I was glad I thought to bring my coat!
That's why mom is dressed like Nanuc of the North!
Lunch break! (Becky, Mom, Aunt Peg, & Uncle Lance)
Grandpa was so funny! He'd come out now and then and wander around and look at things like he'd never seen them before. One time he got on the Nordic Track exerciser and we were all afraid he was going to fall on his fanny! He held a pair of Becky's jeans up to himself, wondering if they'd fit. Then he found his old briefcase for sale and said, "I have a briefcase like this and I use it all the time." It was the same briefcase and he hasn't used it in years. We just had to laugh. In this picture, he's going through a purse that was for sale. :)

We only sold about two thirds of what we had out, so we hauled it all into the garage and Mom and Aunt Peg are going to do another sale in a week or two. (So if you see something you like in the pics, it may still be there for sale!!)
